Celebrate Independence Day with the Best 4th of July 5K Races in the San Francisco Bay Area

As we gear up to celebrate Independence Day, what better way to start the festivities than with a thrilling 5K run amidst the scenic beauty of the San Francisco Bay Area? Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking to kickstart your holiday with a burst of energy, here’s a guide to the best 4th of July 5K race in the Bay Area that promises excitement, community spirit, and breathtaking views.

1. Run San Ramon

Location: San Ramon, CA
Why We Love It: Run San Ramon has been our go to 4th of July run for over ten years. It is a fast course that starts in front of Central Park and loops through Bishop Ranch corporate park. Tons of families and kids run the race. So if you want to run a fast time make sure you make your way to the front of the crowd at the start. Don’t get caught behind a stroller.

All participants receive a short sleeve commemorative shirt, bib, and participation medal.  The Run San Ramon is a chip timed race.

2. Stars and Stripes 5K in Concord, CA

Location: Concord, CA
Why We Love It: You can never go wrong with a Brazen Racing race! Their events are well organized and always come with a beautiful, custom medal.

The course loops around downtown Concord with easy access via Bart and tons of free parking. Bring the whole family and don't forget to take a photo with Stomper the Oakland A’s mascot and Uncle Sam!

There will be 2 water stops/aid stations on the course (at miles 1 and 2) and a ton of delicious and refreshing post-race goodies and bottled water.

The Concord-Diablo Rotary Club will have a pancake breakfast available for $5 from 7:30 am until 11:00 am.

After the race, stay for Concord’s famous and fantastic 4th of July Parade (starting at 10:00 am), complete with floats, bands, equestrian & dance teams and more!

3. Firecracker 5K Run & Kids 100-Yard Dash in Pleasant Hill, CA

Location: Pleasant Hill, CA
Why We Love It: This event is perfect for families, featuring a 5K run alongside a Kids 100-Yard Dash, ensuring everyone can participate in the fun. The scenic course and festive activities make it a favorite among local residents and visitors alike.

4. Independence Day Dash in Livermore, CA

Location: Livermore, CA
Why We Love It: This is the first year of the Independence Day Dash in Livermore. We are excited to have this new option to run this 4th of July. The course runs through the beautiful Sycamore Grove Park, a favorite running route for all our Running Fit Lab team members.

Depending on how many people sign up, the race course could get crowded as the paved trails in Sycamore Grove can be narrow. Strollers are not recommended as this is a mix of gravel and paved trails. Dogs are not allowed.

A portion of the proceeds will go to support the LARPD Foundation, a 501(c)3 Non-Profit that funds the Community Support Scholarship Program to provide everyone access to LARPD's Recreation Classes, Camps, Swim Lessons, Drop-In Programs, Sports Programs, and more!
